17/07/2017
Vosemberg-Vretos Law Firm representatives were proud to attend the 139th International Trademark Association Annual Meeting from 20–24 of May 2017 held in Barcelona, Spain. INTA hosted the largest Annual Meeting this year with more than 10,668 registrants.
As a member of INTA for 55 years already, we have been pleased to be part of a community that values the increasing importance of trademarks to consumers, companies, and the global economy while providing insightful sessions regarding the latest intellectual property and trademark issues. We enjoyed the unique opportunity to meet with partners, colleagues, associate attorneys, industrial property consultants and corporate representatives from around the world.
INTA’s Annual Meeting offered a five-day schedule of meetings, educational sessions, table topics, conferences on intellectual property and trademark, as well as various events topped off by the Grand Finale on Barceloneta Beach
This year and for the first time, the following sessions were included in the Annual Meeting:
- Educational sessions with European focus: The implementation of the European Trademark Reform, geo-branding, the ownership and operation of law firms, data protection.
- Two-hour lunch and learning sessions: Speakers from different walks of life and industries discussed topics that go beyond IP.
- Patents for Trademark Lawyers with focus on (i) how to assist clients and (ii) how to identify the options available in the main patenting countries for both domestic and foreign applicants.
- Reception for Patent Professionals.
Our representatives distinguished the Course on International Trademark Law and Practice, and the Geo-Branding: The Global Interplay Between Geographical Indications and Trademarks, the discussion on Design Law as Applied to “Functional” Aspects of Designs, as well as the session on Using Copyright to Protect and Enforce Rights in Logos.
Once again INTA’s Annual Meeting was very well organized with interesting sessions, where the latest concerns in the IP world were discussed and innovative ideas were explored, creating the opportunity for its members to broaden their knowledge while appreciating the unique cultural melting pot of Barcelona.
